Portals, short but sweet

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

I rented The Orange Box recently, purely to play Portal which I’ve heard great things about. The reviews I read were very correct, it’s a gem. I started the game last night before dinner, and finished before bed, it’s definitely short but it was great. The game mechanics involving creating a portal to solve how you get out were not only cool, but the plot and humor throughout it was good too. All leading up to a decent ending with hilarious credits. It’s great. I don’t even really care to play anything else in bundle of games, Portal was worth the rental.

Spore, Insane game

Saturday, March 4th, 2006

So I just watched the “gameplay video”:http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8372603330420559198&q=spore for “Will Wright’s Spore”:http://spore.ea.com/ which I recently saw linked on “VGCats”:http://www.vgcats.com after “my friend”:http://nismoduck.blogspot.com/ mentioned it. The level of depth in that game just seems too insane to be for real. I’m seriously hoping that will come out for mac right away or I’ll have to fetch me a PC to play that because that just looks like a load of fun.

Unfair advantage… sorry ’bout that!

So played way too much Halo 2 tonight, everybody I know was online or something, about 10 people all from UMaine, Steiners, etc. So we gamed up a lot and one of the games, I had an AWESOME game and just wanted to point it out since it was just insane.

See below… kills column… oooo sorry ’bout that… see stats for more pain like 20 head shots and 33 medals

Usually not the bragging type, just that was just an insane game, won’t happen again for sure.

Sony goes stupid… again

Wednesday, November 9th, 2005

p. Well apparently Sony is pulling another stupid idea out with more really bad DRM with the Sony PS3.

p. The possible DRM in the PS3 will prevent you from:

# Renting games
# Bringing a game to a friend’s house to play on their PS3
# Selling or Buying used games

p. Oh that sounds just super, sign me up, or how about I just stick with Xbox 360 or Nintendo Revolution instead, so far their DRM if any isn’t idiotic.

p. Friend pointed me at this lovely info here: “No pre-owned games to be allowed on Playstation 3″:http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=27568

p. This adds onto the previous stupidity of Sony and their music CDs they publish with DRM that basically root kits windows computers to prevent them from doing anything and possibly even reporting usage data. Of course those CDs work fine on a mac. They also blame apple for not allowing others to do DRM on the iPod or something. Yeah their solution is for you to talk to apple about your inability to play your sony CD music where you want.

p. Root kit info I read while ago here: “Sony, Rootkits and Digital Rights Management Gone Too Far”:http://www.sysinternals.com/blog/2005/10/sony-rootkits-and-digital-rights.html
